Looking for recommendations on operating systems suitable for a low-power Minecraft server? Your setup includes an Intel Core i5-3360M, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. It’s a temporary project for you and your niece.

Xubuntu is a solid option to begin with, offering minimal resource demands while remaining reasonably similar to Windows environments.

Linux options available include Ubuntu Server and CentOS. For a desktop setup, Lubuntu or Xubuntu would be suitable choices.

This Debian-based Minecraft server distro comes with a solid setup and runs smoothly right out of the box. You can operate it without a graphical interface and manage it via a web-based UI.
