I decided to assemble this on-site using parts from Best Buy during the lockdown, swapping my old overclocked 4670k for a newer overclocked Ryzen 3700K. Please share your thoughts and any tips or links you have for similar builds. I also have an overclocked GTX1080—should I really be using ray tracing? It’s a bit of a question for someone else. Everything is air cooled, with stock CPU coolers as well. I’m considering a new CPU cooler and wondering which one would work best. Also, what’s the best way to set up liquid cooling for the GTX?

It handles tasks efficiently without needing extra cooling. You don’t need to worry about water cooling. The single stick is sufficient; the extra bandwidth will greatly improve performance for the 3700x and lower latency since other chips often have more delays than Intel.
A teammate just acquired a ready-made AMD system. He wanted my take on it and truthfully, it was a great value for the cost. The graphics card seemed to be a factory-made OEM model from ASRock. It looked solidly constructed with solid specifications. After buying it, a few days passed and the price jumped about 200+ more than before. Pre-built setups are fine as long as you secured a solid deal.
I reviewed the options from Best Buy, it wasn’t ready-made. I spent time in the parking lot browsing their inventory online. Choosing between Intel and AMD felt challenging since switching from a Phenom 2 to Haswell years ago made such a big difference. I hoped Ryzen wouldn’t end up another disappointment, but it’s actually performing well.
I share the same CPU. My GPU is an MSI RTX 2070 Super. I also own a GTX 1070 Ti as a backup should I need to return my card or it stop working after warranty ends. If that happens, my old R9 390 will be ready until I get a replacement. I have 32GB of DDR4 at 3200Mhz—your PC looks great. I’m considering adding the 1070 Ti just to test how it performs with my new CPU.
