While using my chromebook, I reviewed the touchpad options and wasn’t sure if any changes were made. The current settings include: tap to click – Off, use touchpad and keyboard for right-click, disabled, search + click, alt + click, enable tap dragging – Off, enable touchpad acceleration – On, touchpad speed set to middle, enable reverse scrolling – Off. From this list, I’m not sure which specific setting was altered or if it matches what you used before.

The only unusual feature is the tap that needs clicking. Please note, I don’t use a chromebook; these are typical laptop choices.

Turn tap to click changes its behavior regardless of its state. When disabled, you lose access to certain functions. The item immediately below remains available for interaction.

It happens when you lightly tap the trackpad, mimicking a left-click. The option below is unfamiliar to me but could work if your trackpad lacks a native right-click, serving as an alternative. These features are mostly accessibility tools for those with limited hand movement.
