Hi there! I just had a question about my setup. I have an i7 10700k and an Asus Z490-P motherboard. I’m using my old Hyper 212 Turbo on my previous rig for the CPU. I’m thinking about getting a cooler soon, but right now I want to keep the PL2 in the BIOS low enough so the CPU doesn’t exceed its 150W TDP rating. Right now it hits 100°C during heavy tasks like Blender or DAZ rendering, but not in games or CPU-Z tests. I’m fine with the CPU staying around 4.5–4.6 GHz when loaded, until I install a cooler. It throttles down to 4.4–4.5 GHz and 80°C then. I found the PL2 settings in the BIOS but can’t change them manually. Did I do something wrong? Thanks for any advice!

- Did you attempt clicking the Auto button and inputting a setting? - Consider adjusting the offset voltage to -75 mV (-0.075V). - Your full load temperatures should become much more realistic. - You may want to try ThrottleStop for finer control. - It allows you to modify turbo limits without restarting. - Once you find suitable values, save them in the BIOS.

Power limits can work together without conflict. Undervolting adjusts the CPU voltage to maintain stability, while lowering the voltage reduces heat generation. The standard setting is often too high for consistent performance. By reducing voltage, you can achieve significant temperature drops—like cutting 15°C on some boards during heavy use. This approach helps keep your system stable and efficient.
