Are there any established configurations to lower the voltage on the 5800X? Or does it mostly require trial and error? I’ve used Ryzen Master to find settings that were negative for all cores, with power levels at 120, 80, and 130. I’ve tested OCCT, Prime, and Cine, and temperatures stayed under 75. Now in idle, the CPU fan kicks in briefly to slow things down, which is annoying. Are my settings off? Should I stick to stock and accept it, or is there another approach? Best regards, Kan Ki
It was mostly trial and error. Settings varied a lot depending on the chip. There might be a few reliable options, though I’m not sure what they are.
I spent a weekend working with corecycler, constantly testing each core—it's really frustrating. You could just apply a -20 for all cores or even -30 for all, but even if it starts up and looks normal, you'll definitely face strange OS and software crashes, plus unexpected reboots or lockups when nothing seems to be happening. Unstable CO undervolts tend to cause problems during idle.
Confirmed, though I checked for weeks. -30 all core no crashes or issues at all. The only occasional problem is OW... it still crashes without any OCs/UVs... fortunately it doesn’t occur often, though it’s still frustrating. It seems to be connected to the game being quite buggy even though it runs smoothly otherwise (max settings, locked at 120fps).
Consider setting the PBS voltage to auto for simplicity, unless you want to test performance. Running a few corecycler cycles can help verify stability.
Adjusted the PBO voltage offset to -25 or -30 across every core, then ran Cinebench for ten minutes repeatedly to check stability or detect any issues.

Ensure you understand the issue—Cinebench isn't a reliable measure for checking Ryzen undervolting stability. Even with consistent performance, random crashes during idle can occur. The most vulnerable scenarios are under light load.
