Several UEFI or older BIOS systems are limited to booting from a USB drive with a FAT32 partition. The FAT32 format restricts drives to a maximum size of 32 GB because of its file system bit width. While an NTFS bootable drive can be created, your BIOS might not support NTFS during the initial boot phase.

Yes, you can still partition an external drive even if NTFS isn't supported. Other file systems like FAT32 or exFAT are compatible.
