Setting up Windows offline
Setting up Windows offline
it would be better to ask directly here rather than starting a new thread. i believe i should install an m.2 drive and replace the hdd since i already have win 10 installed. but because it's a fully licensed version, how can i move it over without buying a new license? should i install win 10 first and then let it upgrade to 11? neither of the download links gives clear instructions. i have an asrock phantom gaming 4 b365m motherboard. after activating in bios, the 'secure boot' and tpm are currently disabled.
A clone or a fresh setup on a new drive, using the same hardware, has no licensing problems. It will start working automatically later.
Hello!
Download the Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft.
Next, generate a bootable USB drive with Rufus (this tool is free).
After that, start your PC using the USB and install Windows 11 cleanly on the M.2 SSD.
The activation license you used for Windows 10 will function similarly on Windows 11.
I hope this assists you...
That should help you save money by using an M.2 drive. I was worried about needing a new license for 11, only to install it on a different drive.
Hope this won’t be a big deal, but when choosing the ISO from the MS site they mention using the same language. There are two options—US and international. Since I’m in Australia, I think international is better.
Unless it really doesn’t matter. I have a bit of a silly question, but it hasn’t caused any problems for me yet.
Identify precisely what is required? Rufus isn't necessary...just utilize the MediaCreation tool from MS. Identifying the file that would facilitate the installation of 11. I believe it’s better to specify exactly what I aim to achieve. Right now, version 10 is stored on an HDD, and I plan to replace it with a M.2 drive. My goal is to install 11 on this new setup, which means a full replacement.
Not entirely confident about choosing Assistant or Media. I considered installing 11 on my HDD after making changes to my MB, and then using the Media file to install it on the m2.
