I just need to verify a few points. I’m using Windows 7 on the main drive and considering either a full reinstall or an upgrade to Windows 8.1. I purchased the retail version, not the OEM one. The current setup is running on an older system that’s being upgraded to something else, and I’m moving to a completely different platform. I’d like confirmation in two scenarios: first, if I switch from Windows 7 to 8.1 directly on the old hardware, will I face issues with the Windows key or other problems? Second, if I move to a different hard drive, can I install Windows 8.1 there safely? I’m open to any detailed response but prefer someone who has actually dealt with this situation and can share real experiences.
