Setting up Windows 8 using a G2A product key.
Hi everyone, I purchased a Windows 8 key from g2a to test the service. I need to install it on a system that doesn’t have an OS yet. Most guides I’ve seen either give files that can’t open without an OS, or they suggest upgrading to Windows 7 first or using Windows 8 for 8.1. I’m hoping someone has had similar experiences and can advise me. Thanks!
You can obtain the ISO from Microsoft, but you must execute this application locally and enter your license code to ensure the correct version is downloaded. A Windows PC connected to the internet is required, though it doesn't need to be the one you plan to install on. Simply downloading the ISO won't consume your product key. The tool also lets you transfer the ISO to a USB drive, or use utilities like Rufus for additional options. If you lack a Windows machine or require further assistance, feel free to ask. Good luck!
It's likely he can't utilize that ISO from MS. All the keys on G2a are MSDN, meaning the license might end if the seller stops paying too.
It could mean you might be able to set it up, but it would likely fail once G2A ceases funding the license.
Someone mentioned it wasn't the seller who gave you the key, just a middleman. They only offer games through their own platform. The Windows keys and similar items come from third parties, which might be against the rules.
