I recently moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 after reformatting my PC and doing a fresh install of Windows 7, then upgraded to Windows 10. I’m curious about reinstalling Windows 10 later without changing hardware. Since entering the Windows 7 product key won’t work with the clean install, I did that first before upgrading. Anyone has advice on how to proceed beyond the one-year free upgrade window?

Based on my understanding, simply signing in with your Microsoft account should trigger the same process. You shouldn’t have to input a product key during setup either.

It's accurate, even though I'm unsure if an account is required. I can see my PC listed as a device when logging in to the site.

Not connected to a Microsoft account. Only hardware required. Activation possible without a key.

This approach aligns well; otherwise, reselling gadgets might become challenging...
