Setting up Windows 10
Setting up Windows 10
Hi, I recently upgraded my PC with new parts and need to set up Windows 10 on a new SSD. I also have an old HDD from three years ago, but it still holds data from my previous system. The issue is that Windows 10 is installed there, and I want to replace the old drive without losing important files. Additionally, the old HDD has three partitions—C drive with Windows 10 and other partitions containing data I don’t want to remove. How should I perform a fresh installation while keeping the valuable data intact?
You don't need to delete the previous installation. Start the new PC using the Windows installation media on a USB drive, choose the new SSD as the installation spot, and after logging in, the old drive should remain accessible just like any other. The old installation will stay there but won't be used.
