Setting up Steam titles on another storage device instead of the default installer location
Hello everyone, I've set up Steam and games such as CS:GO on my SSD. I'm currently downloading GTA V to a new folder on my HDD, which I haven't used for Steam yet. I'm wondering if this approach will be fine—won't there be any issues because Steam is on another drive?
I use Steam on my M.2 storage for quick access, and a few games. Anything unnecessary for speed stays on my traditional hard drive. Note: Steam functions mainly as a launcher, updater, and online store tool. It checks the program location and starts it using its own DRM code.
You won't encounter any issues; I faced similar challenges before, especially during a major game like Max Payne 3, and everything functioned normally when installed via the default Steam apps folder.
Sure thing! Thanks for asking. Hope your HDD boots up quickly in GTA V.
They’ve already gone through extensive testing with XB360, XBone, PS3 and PS4. It seems they likely pushed back the release by a few months or more to fine-tune it, similar to how Ubisoft did.
Yes, it functions in a few titles but some require saving files through the official Steam server even if not every game does. That's why I often suggest setting up Steam on a separate drive for better performance.
