NordVPN doesn't work with your router model. They recommended some third-party firmware you can install: links provided. It's wise to consider updating your router's firmware first. People usually share their experiences, so it's good to check reviews. Ultimately, the effort might be worth it if it improves security and performance for your VPN use.

I tested fresh tomato on my old R6300v2 just to check, and it performed well. It offered more choices than the standard router firmware, and I enjoyed experimenting with it. It looks like both tomato and openwrt have ready-made packages for your router, making it manageable if you're a bit tech-savvy. If things go wrong or you no longer want the new firmware, you can revert to the original one. But you probably don’t need a VPN for every device on your home network due to security and privacy concerns. (On a travel router there’s a solid case.) Opposite of what ads suggest, advertisers might still track your activity if you’re using a VPN, and a hack could undermine its protection. You should likely be able to install openwrt yourself with some research. Openwrt is also more secure and provides greater flexibility than the default router firmware (which can be both an advantage and a challenge.) If you only need a VPN, it’s probably not essential.
