Experienced a hiccup due to an outdated update roughly two and a half years ago, which had persistent issues preventing smooth progress and causing frequent resets.

Did MS take it away? I've never experienced this problem before.

I performed a system restore from about two months ago when the problems began. This allows a factory reset, using an extremely old restore point (likely older than a year), or removing and disabling pending updates. They resolved the issue, though it only worked for some people depending on specific security configurations.

It seems you're unsure if you have a backup. Let me know how I can assist!

As I mentioned, you essentially have two choices: fully reinstall Windows or use the update manager to turn off problematic updates, which might require removing files from your system. It’s unclear which update triggered the issue, so you may need to reinstall Windows.

I purchased my computer roughly four years ago, and the previous year I reinstalled Windows, which coincided with the same day.

A desktop computer from Dell, around four years old, was the one you had in mind.
