Setting up new versions while the system is turned off

When I power off my computer, it displays a warning: "please do not turn off or unplug computer." The message "installing updates 1 of 11" appears. Is this typical? Anyone have tips for resolving this issue on Windows 7?

Let the updates come in smoothly... the only way to halt it is not to disable the automatic updater. Just be careful not to accidentally install Windows 10.

It’s feasible to disable automatic shutdown when new updates appear. Windows Update settings let you choose to only download rather than install updates automatically.
