I just completed my build but am having trouble installing the OS or motherboard driver. When I power on the PC and open the boot menu, it reports it can't locate the necessary file name. Can you help figure out what's wrong and which one to install first? Thanks.

When assembling a new PC, you need to set up an operating system first so the system can start properly, after that you install the drivers. You can get the OS by using a physical installation disk in the usual CD format, via a network connection, or through USB—provided your motherboard supports it. I’m confident this is compatible once installed, but I worry you might not be familiar with that method.

I understand the issue. The OS disk isn't recognized because the system can't locate the necessary file map. You may need to verify the disk's presence and correct any naming issues.

It seems the quiet situation is understandable. The problem might stem from not entering BIOS to set the boot order, causing the computer to start loading from the disk first before you can reach the operating system. You're likely 98% certain this wasn't your intention. Are you attempting a network installation? Verify by removing the drive and connecting it to another machine via USB, then installing the OS there before returning it to your original PC.

Verify your disk drive is listed first in the boot sequence. This can be done from the first page of UEFI firmware. Once you power on and hear the disk spin, a black screen will appear with the message "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD...". At that point, press any key on the keyboard once and the operating system installer will begin loading.
