Install Rufus on your Windows machine, then obtain your preferred ISO file. Burn the ISO onto a USB drive using Rufus. Mac lacks built-in BIOS settings. Press Option (or Alt on a PC keyboard) and then choose the USB from the boot menu.

I set up Linux on a comparable older MacBook. I had to obtain a copy of rEFIt, an EFI boot tool, and spent some time adjusting Grub to install the 32-bit version. Keep in mind that even though the CPU was 64-bit, many MacBooks at that time ran 32-bit EFI, so a 32-bit bootloader was necessary.
