In my home, the internet modem needs to be placed downstairs due to the DLS connector in the room. However, I’d like to connect Ethernet directly from upstairs in my room without drilling holes in the ceiling. Any suggestions for quick Ethernet setup above without running cables through the hallway?

Can it be installed inside the walls? Do you have a coax connection at home? Consider trying MOCA.

To get Ethernet you’ll need to use a cable somewhere, or consider Powerline which isn’t ideal.

I have coax running from bottom to top. It might work. How strong is the powerline interference?

Varies with the wiring, usually worse than Wi-Fi, especially if it's right above you. A solid Wi-Fi connection using just one wall can be quite fast (over 500 Mbps with a high-end access point and device). This is your top choice for maximum performance.

This would be ideal because I'm connecting with a gigabit modem.
