Yes, it's better to avoid placing it on the same storage drive. Consider using an additional disk instead.

You can have an unlimited number of OS's to boot from, provided you have the storage for it. You may want to look into running a virtual machine depending on what you're doing.

It’s possible but confusing—why would there be two versions of Linux? You seem to already use the most supported OS for your PC.

Someone once managed to boot around 125 operating systems using multiboot. It was quite fascinating.
