Hello, I need to install routers at my workplace. My understanding of networking is limited. I plan to use 2 or 3 routers, one of which already has security cameras connected. I want to add another router to provide WiFi coverage in the area I need. Can I connect these two routers using a cable? Or do I need a switch and set up the routers as access points? What would be the simplest and most affordable solution so that employees can access the internet easily? The existing router is a TP Link TL-WR940N, and I don’t need the fastest connection—some bandwidth loss is acceptable.

Reconfigure the extra routers for AP mode using dedicated static LAN IPs outside the main DHCP range. Connect them via Ethernet from the primary router. Configure Wi-Fi on each access point.

I understand the steps you're planning. You're checking if the WR940N router is suitable and whether you need a switch, so there shouldn't be any issues.

The LAN connections on the WR940N function similarly to a switch. Be aware that the Ethernet ports are limited to 10/100Mbps, which may be the main constraint.

Hello, your issue involves a second router connected but without internet access. After resetting it and testing the direct connection to your notebook, the problem persists when linking to the router. It seems there might be an error in the setup process. Double-check the configuration steps and ensure all connections are correct.

The WR940N router operates on its designated LAN subnet. It utilizes a DHCP range assigned for dynamic IP allocation within that network.

I couldn't figure out the setup and it looks like the network is slower than expected even at the first router. I contacted the ISP who will inspect it. I hope they have the right knowledge. Thank you for your time.
