I'm just transferring files. If I get this switch without a router to give IP addresses, should I be okay? The TP-Link 24 Port TL-SG1024D or the TL-SG1008D—will I need a router? Because I believe they might not be set up properly.

I saw your previous message about a local web server. It would help to buy or install a router more smoothly, particularly if you plan to switch to a 24-port switch later on.

It was mainly a fun project. The TL-SG1008D (unmanaged switch) and TL-SG1024D (status unclear if managed or not). If I get a router and this switch, maybe I won’t need an upgrade. Will it connect to the internet? Probably not, so no need for a modem.
