Setting data fails to load in BIOS.
Hello everyone, I hope all is well and you're doing okay. My CMOS battery had failed after four years, so I replaced it with a new one and everything functioned properly. However, last night my PC transitioned to BIOS when I tried to boot, even though everything seemed normal. After restarting and reconfiguring, it worked fine. But when I shut down and tried to start again, the issue persisted—my M.2 drive wasn<|pad|>, it didn't appear in the MOBO settings. Restarting the PC resolved the problem. I also noticed the power LED and fan would toggle a few times before entering BIOS, then I'd configure the M.2 SSD and save. After a couple cycles, it would power on and off before booting. I'm unsure if this is typical behavior since I hadn't seen it before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
Check the CMOS battery with a multimeter to confirm it reads about 3 volts. If it does, the issue isn't the battery.
It seems I don’t have any other PC nearby for testing, but after swapping the battery it functioned properly. For about two weeks, I didn’t face this issue with the new CMOS battery.
I reset the CMOS using the jumper as per the instructions and it appears to function correctly now. However, this time the boot time was longer than usual. Since I'm using a M.2 drive as my bootable storage, it provides a fast boot even when fast boot is turned off in the BIOS. I haven't updated my BIOS yet; I plan to do that by the end of today if the issue continues. We should check whether the CMOS reset is sufficient to resolve the problem.
I possess four backup CMOS batteries that I recently purchased in a set. Should my issue continue, I will attempt to use another one.
