Hey there, I'm considering setting up a new gaming PC and have gathered the components I think will give me a solid experience at 1080p with high refresh rates. Since I'm mainly a CSGO competitive player, top FPS is essential for me. I've got a Ryzen 7 3700X 331,00 €, Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite 218,90 €, RAM from G.SKILL Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3600MHz 99,90 €, an SSD M.2 2280 Western Digital Black SN750 500GB NVMe 84,90 €, a GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC 3X 8G 578,90 €, and Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital Black 89,90 €, plus a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming OC 3X 8G. My storage is a Seasonic Core GM 650W Semi Modular 80PLUS Gold 89,90 €.
I'm a bit worried about spending 1 493,40€ right now, especially with new NVIDIA cards and AMD CPUs on the horizon. I'm currently stuck in an old HP laptop and am frustrated by low FPS and stuttering. Would it make sense to wait a couple of months? Prices could drop and the latest models might be worth the extra cost depending on what you need. What do you think?
You might want to hold off. The CPU probably won’t see much improvement, but the graphics card will. The latest lineup won’t significantly raise the price; in fact, you could opt for a lower-tier card and still achieve comparable or slightly better results than the 2070S you were considering.
Wait for prices to improve, but if you hold off until the next big opportunity arrives, you’ll miss out on building anything. Whatever your decision, it will become outdated within a week—that’s what makes PCs exciting!
You can pause your setup and give yourself time. Honestly, I wouldn’t suggest Zen 2 to anyone right now—especially with a budget around 10,600k. Better wait for Zen 3 instead.
To be honest to you guys, I am more inclined to wait for the new NVIDIA cards just to check if there any performance increase or if the 2000 series prices goes down. There is also the 4000 series AMD cpus and the new XT ones. So I will wait. I've waited 4 years so a few more months wont change anything. Thanks for all the feedback to you all.
1080p with high refresh rate works well for CSGO, yes. The Z490 ASUS Prime fits the 10600K nicely, and you can build a better setup for the price compared to a 3700x. Between the 10600K and Zen 3, I’d suggest holding off if you have a functional PC at all.
