Hello everyone, we've just joined a new plan and gear. However, I'm facing some issues connecting my PC. Everything seems to be linked correctly, but the internet speed is slow and I can't access my NAS. It looks like the PC isn't showing the new modem name—just saying "network connected." I think I should connect to this new network and enter a password.

Sure, I can explain it further. My setup includes a personal computer, a modem, and a network-attached storage device.

NBN box connected to modem via powerline adapter, then switches to network, finally linking to PC or NAS.

Initially, connecting a PC and NAS to one switch should work without problems unless your network setup changed—like when you installed a new modem. You should be able to ping the NAS's IP address. If not, review the configuration settings. Since it's a basic network, your PC needs the modem's IP, not its name. Let me know if that's correct.

They need internet for communication; without it, I can't reach the NAS. Wouldn't I expect a password prompt if the connection isn't available? Earlier setups showed the name clearly, but now it just lists "Network."

NAS is functioning now, though the internet remains significantly slower compared to before. The Wi-Fi performance is still acceptable.

NAS provided a convenient setup for you. Connecting via the switch or directly to the modem might affect speed—check your connection for any impact.

It's surprising how fast the internet speed is now, but we haven't received the NBN connection yet.

Usually it's better to use a router instead of connecting PC and NAS directly to the modem. This improves performance and adds security. Keeping NAS and PC online with just their own firewalls isn't ideal unless absolutely necessary. Most ISPs only provide one IP address, which makes sense since they rarely support this setup. I'm curious if the speed problems stem from this configuration not being supported by your provider.

Do you intend to refer to a modem or a router? Please share the model number so I can assist further.
