I purchased the Windows 10 Pro CD version. Should I prepare my file first before installing, and could my data be lost after installation?

Hmmmm, It's been a while since I used 8.1, is there an upgrade option where you can use the activation code on your disc to upgrade to 10 pro? That way you aren't reinstalling from scratch.

No matter if you choose to upgrade or not, I strongly suggest a clean installation. If you possess all other software keys and have everything backed up, then give your machine a chance and start over.

Install typically takes about 20 minutes. Formatting is possible within the installer. All files will be removed.

Ensure a backup is made first, as it may require the longest time based on your setup. The installation process can range from 20 minutes to an hour, influenced by your hardware.

It won’t require much extra time beyond a standard upgrade. The additional duration depends on backing up your files, but the installation process itself won’t add significant time compared to typical updates.
