You're looking to set up two separate routers with distinct networks, where one remains functional even if the other is down. This setup isn't standard, but it's possible depending on your router models and configurations. Check your router's manual or online support for compatibility options. If you're unsure, consider consulting a technician to ensure proper separation and functionality.

This configuration is necessary to ensure proper communication between devices. It allows the second router to obtain an IP address and related details from the modem using DHCP.

It depends on the modem settings. Certain internet providers may restrict access to just one port for specific reasons. If you share your goals, we can explore alternative approaches together.

We have many users on the first router, and the plan only offers 12 mbps. Given my location, it feels frustrating. Regarding the second router, I’m unsure—it works with my phone or laptop, but websites don’t load properly. There’s Wi-Fi available, yet I can’t access the internet.

Sure? Perhaps it could work this way—I'll reach out to my ISP. I need two separate Wi-Fi networks, not linked together. That way, if one is turned off, the other should still function properly.

You're still limited to 12MB/s from the ISP. If you're concerned about speed, I'd consider getting a range extender from Amazon—they're affordable and straightforward to set up. Just plug in the default network, choose your desired network name, set a password, and it will expand your coverage.

It's not mainly about coverage distance. The focus is on creating an entire second Wi-Fi network. I could widen the area by linking the second router to the first one without purchasing a Wi-Fi extender.

If range isn't the priority and you only need two separate SSIDs, verify if your router supports them. Otherwise, you can stick with your current setup unless the first router keeps failing, in which case adding another might not be necessary.

Using two routers provides double NAT, which can lead to various problems (certain apps/games might fail to connect). It’s better to use a dedicated router—like Mikrotik—for proper configuration and multiple networks as needed.
