You can transfer your operating system from your old laptop to a new one by using a USB drive or cloud backup, then reinstall it on the new hardware. The OS isn't necessarily bound to the original motherboard, so it should work as long as you have the same hardware and drivers.

Based on my understanding, it isn't feasible. You can simply obtain the ISO file for the desired operating system and install it on your new laptop.

The key is linked to the laptop. Cloning won't function due to the unique driver requirements of laptops, so a new installation is necessary.

Ensure you install the correct Windows ISO, probably an OEM edition! Otherwise, your old laptop's key won't function properly!

It won't function correctly either. ISOs aren't separated by OEM and Retail but by keys only; they're grouped by version, so the ISO needs to align with the version and key.

With my HP laptop, I installed a Dell Windows 8 OEM ISO and it worked after one restart. I needed to locate this specific "OEM" edition because using a standard (both 64-bit versions) ISO caused the system to reject the BIOS key. It seems the correct version was necessary for compatibility. Check it out if you're unsure!
