When setting up Need for Speed Heat, there’s an option to install Direct X 9.0c. Since you already have Direct X 12 installed, should you proceed with the newer version?

It seems the NFS heat didn't include an installer, possibly because it was bundled directly from EA.

This version is clearly a damaged copy of NFS Heat, and Origin or Steam would handle installing it properly

What an odd installer, don't you think? Especially with the mention of "Repacks."

It's worth noting that Frostbite hasn't utilized DirectX 9 since Battlefield: Bad Company 2. It's likely it was disabled in Frostbite 1.5 or earlier.

You could skip the 5 dollars and use EA Play directly on Steam. That way, it’s sure to function.

I purchased the game last week, but the original installer doesn’t resemble it at all, and they didn’t request a DX version. It’s likely he didn’t obtain the genuine copy.

And Frostbite 2 only works with DX10 and DX11. I ended up getting all the games that came out after that release. Need for Speed The Run was really enjoyable, I keep playing Battlefield 3, and I enjoy the campaign in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The visuals and gameplay stayed solid over time.
