An alternative approach is to ask for submissions in PDF format, as any reasonable teacher shouldn't have issues with this given your current situation. If you anticipate a dispute, conduct some research to confirm the problem isn't due to a deliberately corrupted DOCX file. Alternatively, stick with Libre and create three versions—text, PDF, and DOCX—to attempt submission via the fallback options. The text files should work since the issue isn’t related to LibreOffice. Note that PDFs will display exactly as saved, while text files may have limitations. Good luck.
