I'm using Windows 7 on an older SATA SSD 2.5 form factor. I installed Windows 10 from a pendrive onto a new NVMe drive. Asus Strix Z270 E-gaming motherboard. To dual boot both OSes on two separate physical drives—SSD so you can pick the one at startup. In BIOS, I can only manually adjust boot priority or enable override boot to start the chosen system. When setting the boot order, for the NVMe drive with Windows 10 there are options like: - Windows Boot Manager Lexar Nvme - just the standard name Lexar Nvme. The issue is that regardless of the choice, the first system that boots is always Windows 10 from the NVMe. If I switch the old SATA 2.5 drive to Windows 7, it will start first. None of the setups allow automatic system selection. Because both operating systems are on different physical disks, Windows doesn’t recognize each other in disk management or boot settings.

Configure your Win10 SSD as the preferred startup drive. Then employ easyBCD to insert Windows 7 into the Windows boot manager. Restarting will show you the Windows boot menu, letting you pick between Windows 7 or Windows 10.
