Set up additional Ethernet interfaces on your Unraid server to function as switches.
My unraid server has four Ethernet connections, but only one is active. In my room layout, accessing the three unused ports on the server is simpler than navigating around the monitor to the switch at the back of my desk. I need a way to connect my laptop without relying on Wi-Fi, so I want those three ports to act like a simple switch. Unraid should recognize the device and share internet with it. How can I set this up? Because any action tends to disrupt the connection, and I often have to reset the network settings to restore access.
Unraid wasn't operating Pfsense; I needed it to run, but my family chose to install the internet wiring on the opposite side of the house.
Remember that performing this action will consume CPU resources on the unRAID system and might result in marginally increased latency compared to a standard switch. For a fairly capable server, the impact would likely be around 0.1ms—generally imperceptible.
