Set up a desktop using an older graphics card; the VGA light appears but the display fails to show properly.
Good morning, I've been working on assembling this PC for more than a month now. Every time I try to put it together the VGA light comes on and it beeps with a specific code. I’m planning to upgrade the GPU soon but thought I could wait until it arrives. I’ve checked that the GPU is still functional—it works perfectly in the new PC after moving it over. The issue seems to be with the VGA port. I’ve confirmed the GPU isn’t dead; removing it from the new system and putting it back in the old one resolves the problem. The GPU, motherboard, RAM, CPU cooler, and all fans are working fine. I had to flash the BIOS for CPU compatibility (though I’m not sure if that helped since the VGA issue persists). I connected the HDMI to all GPU ports and even tried using my DP monitor on both of them. All connections seem normal in the old PC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, a VGA light would indicate an issue with the RAM. There is a dedicated light for this purpose.
I suspect the RAM might be interfering with the BIOS, causing a clash between the GPU and memory. I experienced a blank screen during cold starts on several boot cycles. It turned out to be a RAM problem, and the RAM wasn't properly seated for the board either. The board displayed a DRAM indicator, but occasionally also a VGA light. It still works now, and the blank screen issue is resolved. For troubleshooting, verify your board's specific RAM compatibility with your CPU model (5900X uses Vermeer) and check the QVL list. If it's missing, the faulty RAM could be the cause. Also, note that some configurations avoid dual-rank RAM, which might explain part of the issue—your replacement seems to be single-rank.
