Set up a connection between Connect TV and your PC using Ethernet.
Hey there! I'm checking if it's feasible to link your living room TV to your gaming PC using Ethernet. You mentioned looking into HDMI KVM extenders, but you're curious about performance and potential delays. Your goal is to stream in 4K at 120Hz, which is a solid target.
If you're open to suggestions, there are some good options within your budget of around 300-500 CHF. Just make sure the cables and adapters work well for both HDMI and USB connections. Let me know if you want tips on setting it up or testing the connection!
Due to the lack of funding, a long HDMI and active USB cable will be the optimal choice.
Did you purchase a certified cable, and which one? Based on my observations, any non-certified copper cable with a length of 3 meters or more can be unreliable for 4K at 120Hz HDR VRR... Even within the same brand, performance varies—some work consistently while others intermittently cut out every 20 seconds, pause audio briefly, or experience longer blackouts.
I bought this one, should be fine I think or what do you say? It's certified with HDCP 1.4 , Hdcp 2.2 If it doesn't work i could return it within 14 as well. https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/del...ier=406802
Yes, optical cables are costly, yet they remain the best option for distances exceeding 5 meters.
Don't wait too long, if you're currently at 60Hz then 120Hz will be where the cable performance really shines. I used a 7-meter cable that performed flawlessly at 60Hz, but switched to an optical cable to achieve 120Hz since it simply wouldn't work otherwise. Optical cables have become much more affordable now, so I only purchase them if I need anything longer than 3 meters—they're also thinner, which reduces strain on the HDMI ports. The 5-meter cables I used previously would often break solder connections in the ports because of their weight.
Functions flawlessly at 120Hz, received a fresh TV last weekend. Appreciate it.
