A heated discussion is taking place on a DayZ gaming FB page about performance problems. People are trying to figure out if the lag comes from the server, your internet speed at home, or the limitations of a console like an Xbox One S. I think it could be a mix of all three, but most issues seem linked to the server. I’ve played on various servers and seen some with great performance while others became slow near bases or when many players were present. Some servers were so laggy that movement felt impossible. Others were just too slow for casual play. It’s also worth noting that not everyone can afford high-end gaming setups, and some don’t play enough to justify investing in a premium machine. Lastly, how many of you enjoy DayZ and play it more than others? Do you think making copies is unfair?

Connection speed isn't the main issue in online gaming; latency and packet loss have a bigger impact. WIFI often performs poorly for gaming, mainly because of high packet loss. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what causes lag without testing yourself, so I guess the problem is likely your network. If you're using an older Xbox One, performance can be noticeably slower even though it was once well-optimized.

It really depends on the game and the kind of lag you're experiencing. FPS lag usually points to hardware issues or games that link frame updates with network updates—rare but problematic. Network lag can come from the server or your connection problems. If the server becomes overloaded, lag is likely obvious. Often lag results from being distant from the server or using a poor connection path. WiFi adds extra delay on the return trip via direct wiring, though it's not as significant as before. Regarding the last two points, I don't care about DayZ, and duplicating data is clearly unfair.
