I’m going to rent a server in the US, and it’s showing me RAM requirements based on my setup. I’ll likely have up to 8 users online at once, with some heavy Redstone projects and large builds. I’m checking the options page here: https://craftnodehosting.com/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=1

For a group of eight, 4gb should suffice. I experience roughly 10gb of memory usage with around 300 participants.

I've managed numerous Minecraft servers before. For vanilla setups, you should be okay with 1 to 1.5 gigabytes of RAM. With mods, aim for 2 to 3 gigabytes.

It's even reasonable to suggest 512MB is sufficient, though you might consider upgrading later if your redstone setup becomes extensive.

I considered the 1-2 GB range, but can't afford 4 GB.

If you don't need constant availability, run a local server. This host seems too expensive. I could offer you affordable rental servers, but they're all based in the EU, which would make it feel like a slideshow.

They use Craftnode hosting, and I've heard positive reviews about them. You can check their site at http://craftnodehosting.com/index.php

About eight gigs in mind just in case (because you're diving into redstone stuff)

Setting up a local server can be an issue depending on your needs. If you decide to proceed, it’s reasonable to compensate the host and allocate at least 1GB of memory. This approach won’t drain your entire budget immediately, but it will help you understand the resources you truly require.
