You're looking to set up a Linux distribution on your server, but you're unsure which one to choose. Freedesktop isn't recommended for production use. Consider lightweight options like Debian, Ubuntu Server, or CentOS Stream. If you need something minimal, try Alpine Linux or openSUSE Leap. Let me know if you'd like more details on any of these!

The refresh rate is irrelevant. You won’t see a monitor or GUI. This system works well with 2GB RAM. Consider using CentOS.

I aim to assist you effectively. What would you like me to do with the server?

It's a real server, not just a temporary desktop. It will replace my WD MyCloud as my primary NAS. I'll also use it to back up my disks and serve as the main storage for my media station.

It seems this message is about compatibility issues. The system might be quite old and not meet the requirements for an Ubuntu Server.

It could work fine from what I see. There might be some hardware issues that aren't apparent at first after a new installation.
