I attempted to connect to my local Minecraft server and encountered several odd events: 1. Instead of the expected 0/20 player count, I saw "???". 2. During connection, the system displayed "Encrypting" until the link timed out. 3. On the server side, it showed my UUID but no further info. 4. When the connection dropped, sometimes nothing happened and I could retry; other times the server crashed, showing a crash report.

The log includes a detailed walkthrough of the error, its execution path, and all known specifics.

No, this server is not running on the same system as you're playing.

It's on another device within two feet, linked through an Ethernet cable to our router.

What kind of equipment? It appears to be processing too slowly and may be timing out.

Consider reducing dedicated RAM to 8 gigabytes from the default 10. Also, lowering the player count down to 10. Check for any available mods—though it’s unclear if there are any. This could be a way to test performance, as running Windows 8.1 with only 2 gigabytes might be challenging. A Linux distribution might handle the lower limits better.
