The newest hosting options have consistently been challenging for netcode performance, which is why I and my friends usually run 5 to 8 versions ahead of the latest. If you want to see every update on an online server, Realms is a good choice—but that $8 per month can add up quickly, especially since third-party sites offer more slots and flexibility. Better to stick with older versions until Paper releases at least 5 updates for your current version.
Figuring this out is frustrating, but I saw a few improvements. The Chunky plugin helped load some content faster, reduced random drops, and made disconnections less frequent. Thanks for catching that, though I got there late—lol!
