I’m facing significant FPS fluctuations and stuttering in my games, which are making it extremely difficult to enjoy playing. Even though I own top-tier hardware, my gaming experience remains far from smooth, and I’m unsure how to proceed. Here’s a clear summary of the situation:
System Details:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 4100
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
- RAM: 32 GB
- Motherboard: ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING
- Operating System: Windows
The Problems:
- FPS can spike very high (possibly up to +300), but then plummet to as low as 4 FPS. This change is sudden and unpredictable, preventing a consistent gaming session.
- Stuttering occurs during fast actions like shooting, causing noticeable delays. The screen and sound freeze for about 1 to 2.4 seconds.
What I’ve Attempted:
- Reinstalled GPU drivers.
- Updated DirectX 12 settings.
- Checked temperatures—all components are within normal ranges.
- Ran no background apps using much CPU or memory during play.
Still No Resolution.
Possible Causes:
I’m not sure if the issue lies in hardware, drivers, or something else. It could also be related to power supply stability or overlooked factors.
Help Needed:
Could anyone else report similar FPS drops and stuttering issues despite having good equipment? Would it help if you shared specific troubleshooting steps or diagnostics to pinpoint the problem?

Driver Reinstallation:
I’ve reinstalled the newest drivers for my GPU, but the issue continues.
Did you run DDU in Safe Mode? Reinstalling the latest driver from AMD’s support site via an elevated command?
You didn’t mention which titles are causing the FPS drops.

My be quiet! The Straight Power 11 750W PSU is two years old. It still works for its purpose, even though it's not considered a top-tier model. I've reinstalled the newest drivers, but the issue continues. I ran DDU in Safe Mode to fully clear old drivers before installing the latest one from AMD's support site using elevated commands. The performance is extremely unstable, especially in games like Fn, where FPS can drop from over 250 to as low as 4 or 0. The system runs on Windows 11 Pro Edition with BIOS version 10.0.22631, Build 22631.
