You have 12 hours in Fallout. You can move the game and its data to your new PC by signing in on Steam and downloading them directly. Transferring to an external drive isn’t necessary unless you want extra storage.

It’s easy to reinstall it directly from Steam. Your progress is saved on Valve’s servers, so you should transfer your save files to the new machine.

Ensure Cloud Saving is active so Steam transfers your saves automatically during installation. For mods, they need to be reinstalled.

Locate the main Fallout folder containing all data and extract the save files. Ready to copy them to a thumb drive.

In your documents area of the account (Windows), you’ll find a My Games section containing your saved files. The game files aren’t saved in the cloud unless you explicitly configure Steam to do so.

The saves are generally distinct from the game files. Game data typically resides in Program Files, whereas saves usually appear in the user's directory. This means you'd find them like "C:/Users/Username/Documents/My Games/Fallout 4" or similar paths beyond "/Documents".
