Hello everyone, I'm planning to assemble an X58 rig and even flip it over. So far, I've got the P6T SE board, 12GB DDR3 RAM, PSU, and HDD. I have a couple of questions: Is this motherboard reliable and capable of overclocking? Also, which Xeon processor should I pick? I'm looking for a six-core option—maybe X5660 or X5670? Thanks!
It's a board. Specifically an X58 model. Not exceptional, nor poor. Generally meets expectations for CPU and memory upgrades. Performance-wise, the features are decent, though not outstanding.
Generally everything here supports overclocking, though most need adjustments to the base clock, which can be risky—check out the 56-core OC video. Some believe certain Xeons like W3680 and W3690 are fully unlocked, but don’t rely on that; it might only apply to specific parts or updates.
I intend to bring a fan in the back to cool the VRM, so I’m sure it won’t cause any issues. I’ll purchase the x5660 for around $20. It looks like a solid offer. Thanks for your assistance!
