LCDs and OLEDs usually don't fit directly into an existing unit. The safest choice is a similar replacement. If you're okay with it, disassemble the monitor and locate the panel's part number. Purchase that exact panel and swap it in, taking care not to contact the driver board—the thin PCB on the back can be damaged easily. (I've destroyed a driver just by touching it.) Display panels are generally designed to match the specific device they're on.
Edit: For newer laptops with sealed screens, swapping the panel is nearly impossible due to the adhesive and clips. My advice is to order the matching lid and replace it instead of the panel inside.
