Checking current reviews, the Ryzen 3 1200 fits on the listed board. Upgrading to the Ryzen 5 1600 is possible but may require checking compatibility and performance gains.
The A320 motherboard supports most early Ryzen models smoothly, though it might be better suited for newer ones with BIOS updates. It’s not ideal for a B450 due to the $10 price difference, but you can still overclock and it offers better upgrade flexibility.
I’m feeling pretty confident about this purchase. I bought an A320 because it was around $10 and I didn’t think overclocking was necessary. However, after some time I realized I overlooked other components when choosing the A320. While I regret it, I don’t mind much since it works well for my needs. Still, I wish there were more upgrade options, especially as I plan to upgrade from my reliable Ryzen 3 2200G.
I purchased the A320 since it was the only option that matched my budget. I upgraded from an older system, which meant adding RAM and a CPU, and I settled on 16GB of RAM.
I moved from an outdated 771 platform. My setup included a dual-core e8500, 4GB DDR2 at 800MHz, and an HD7850 graphics card. I chose a Ryzen processor but ended up purchasing the CPU, motherboard, and RAM myself, thinking it would be budget-friendly. I opted for the cheapest available options. Eventually, I upgraded to a more affordable board and swapped my old 8GB RAM for a 16GB 3200MHz model. Although it was some of the least desirable components, the system has been running smoothly for over a year with only minor CPU performance issues. I’ve continued improving it over time. I also switched from the HD7850 to a new 1050Ti for around $160. After using that for about a week, I decided to buy an older RX480 for $100 and kept the 1050Ti in storage. Brand new and used within a week... that’s the worst investment I’ve made! I also upgraded my unbranded RAM to a larger 16GB kit with 3200MHz speeds a few weeks ago.
