I'm a former user of NovaBACKUP, seeking alternatives for Windows 10 backup. I need suggestions now. I'm moving away from NovaBACKUP since they discontinue sales and only offer annual licenses. (For essential tasks like backup, I'd prefer to rent software instead of buying it.)

My requirements up to now are:
A well-established product with professional quality and a strong user base.
Either free or available at a reasonable price with a perpetual license (around $60 max).
Compatible with Windows 10; updates for newer OS versions might be necessary.
Uses an intuitive GUI that minimizes user mistakes.
Allows storing parameters to run specific backup jobs by selecting saved jobs.
Supports backups to removable media of my choice (not cloud storage).
Enables system image backups that can be restored from a disaster recovery medium.
Performs full, differential, and incremental backups.
Can restore complete backups, individual files, or sets of files.
Retains old versions of files from suitable backups.
Backs up files currently in use by Windows or always-running programs.

I’m updating my criteria after trying AOMEI Backupper Standard and realizing it can’t backup files that are active. Until then, I wasn’t expecting such a limitation. I hope this doesn’t lead to more surprises like that.

I rely solely on Macrium Reflect, and it seems to satisfy all your needs. A few adjustments were made since I wrote this, but the initial version shared here reflects my standard process. Somewhat altered for clarity, yet keeping the same tone and intent. forums.

And thank you for taking the initiative with your data.
Too many individuals are still lacking this approach.
