I’m seeking guidance on selecting the right CPU for this build. My budget is around $530, excluding case, cooling fans, and other peripherals. The games I plan to run include GTA V, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, Cold War, CSGO, Apex Legends, Rocket League, and Minecraft. I checked several websites such as userbenchmark, pc-builds, CPUAgent, versus, and GPUCheck, but results varied widely, even on YouTube. If you could assist in choosing a suitable CPU, I’d be grateful. Additionally, if you’re open to suggesting a complete build without the case for $530, that would be helpful too.
Hey there! Looking to join the discussions? I’d pick the R5 2600 instead of the i5 9400F because of the extra threads needed. Userbenchmark isn’t a trustworthy guide for CPU selection—it’s heavily influenced by Intel.
Visually, the 2600 stands out clearly. In newer titles, the 9400f falls short and experiences stuttering, whereas in actual play it performs marginally better than the 2600 regarding maximum frames per second (besides Apex and Cold War where the 2600 shines and prevents stutters). However, with a 1650 the gap disappears entirely. Most of the sites you checked either focus on theory, are biased, or don’t present accurate results.
As mentioned before, try the 2600. You’ll find more discussions and chances to boost performance, though this depends on your motherboard.
