I mostly stick with the V1.0, though it has a solid build. The main issue is with the Wi-Fi module "AMD RZ-616"—it sometimes fails to detect itself after a few days, and I have to reset power to fix it. The V2 uses an Intel module, which seems to avoid this problem compared to the V1.0. P.S. I didn’t locate any instructions for swapping the Wi-Fi module because it’s hidden under the VRM heatsink, which looks fixed. I’m stuck without a good replacement option. The alternatives would be USB or PCI-e Wi-Fi modules. Edited April 21, 2024 by ImWilly

Thanks, I'm leaning toward the V2 version now. It's frustrating that the Wi-Fi chip on your motherboard does that...

Now there are fewer people relying on faulty, non-removable Wi-Fi modules. Have fun with your project!

Well, if the Reddit user is confirmed as v1 and the claim holds, it appears the change is possible https://old.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/commen..._elite_ax/ Updated April 21, 2024 by Poinkachu

It looks like the removal should be possible by unscrewing the rear side of the motherboard. I’ll check it out and see if the VRM heatsink can be taken off without damaging the rest of the setup.

I noticed the link is for a B650 model, not Reddit. Checking the back of a B650 Elite Ax (based on the image I found) appears to have a hidden screw, possibly a plastic push latch or thermal pad adhesion. Be cautious.

Just checked the rear side of my rig and noticed a cover from my case blocking access to the screw for the heatsink VRM. The effort required to take it down feels excessive, but I’ll remember this for future upgrades or building a new setup. Thanks for the Reddit link and advice—it gives me hope there’s a solution for my bad Wi-Fi module.
