I have two main choices, but it mostly comes down to comparing the ASRock B450 Pro4 and the Aorus B450 M. I'm just starting out with PCs—about six systems built already—and I'm interested in overclocking. I'm not very experienced, but I want to know which board is better for that. P.S. I have no idea much about overclocking yet.
MSI's Tomahawk B450 boards are often regarded as top-tier options, especially with their solid VRMs that support overclocking. Your ASUS Strix B450-F is a solid choice, but comparing it to other models can depend on your specific needs and preferences.
The Asrock B450 Pro 4 offers minor improvements for overclocking, though the gain is limited. Additional perks include its ATX size with extra PCIe x1 slots and possibly more SATA ports compared to other options. The Gigabyte board could be handy if you opt for a less expensive case that only supports mATX boards. Among the B450 chipset boards, MSI generally performs better, though exceptions exist. Refer to the provided spreadsheet for recommendations—look for boards with at least two green checkmarks in the center columns. For the 1600AF model, both motherboards should work equally well. The 1600AF doesn’t draw excessive power, so VRM or heatsink quality won’t significantly impact overclocking results. Pick the design that suits you best or go with one of the suggested MSI boards.
