Microsoft has shared a beta release of Edge for Linux, offering both .deb and .rpm distributions. It also appears to be available for Arch Linux through the AUR. You can find more details at the provided link. Regarding distributions, Ubuntu-based systems are highly recommended due to their widespread support and extensive software availability. Personally, I’m using Manjaro with KDE and have found it to be stable. I haven’t encountered problems such as unexpected boot failures, which occurred when using Pop!_OS in a VM.

Arch and Nix are mentioned because users actively select them, not because they’re automatically recommended. Support for these distros is limited, so many people avoid them.

Harder distributions aren't necessarily tougher; just a bit of effort and the wiki can help. They work well for anyone, offering significantly better performance than typical beginner options.

most single GPU gaming VMs rely on KVM-QEMU with Virt-Manager, and the configuration adapts a modified version of the Rising Prisma wiki.

You shouldn't just assume they're okay. It's important to decide thoughtfully about using them.

Pop!_OS appears somewhat unstable due to its extensive features, while Manjaro offers mixed results. Ubuntu seems reliable for stability and strong community support for troubleshooting. My main reason to switch from Windows is the ongoing software problems and other issues that aren’t functioning properly. Would Ubuntu be a better choice for everyday use?

Your friend suggested them in his YouTube video. That wasn't the best pick. Linux Mint, MX Linux, or even LMDE4 will work well for most users and are straightforward. You should consider learning one of them and possibly switch to another distribution as they evolve. I know I have

If you're unsure, consider Slackware or Gentoo Linux instead. Why is Arch so dominant?

He suggested these for those eager to master Linux, so rewatch the video and stay within the context.
