You're welcome on the update. The pull was mainly on a single board, the MSI Z790 PRO A, which stands out for its premium audio quality compared to more basic models. From what I understand, the problem appears to be linked to Intel's 2.5 Gbps Ethernet in those boards. However, other models like the Z790 Aorus Elite AX or AsRock PG Riptide use different Ethernet interfaces and should be safe.
That board indeed features a high-end audio codec, which is something I haven't encountered before since I usually stick to mid-range options. The 2.5 Gbps Ethernet is also present. The Z790 Aorus Elite AX uses Realtek LAN, which shouldn't have this problem because it isn't an Intel model. I've experienced issues with Killer LAN on my Z97 Gaming 5, but not with the I225/226 LANs. The AsRock PG Riptide does include a Killer LAN.
I created a Z790 comparison list focusing on budget and midrange MOBOs that don’t rely on Intel’s Ethernet controllers. Gigabyte offers Z790 UD, Z790 UD AX, Z790 GAMING X AX, and Z790 AORUS ELITE AX from Asus. Only Prime Z790-P with Wi-Fi is available from Biostar, while ASRock has the full range but no Intel Ethernet boards. MSI currently lacks any models without Intel’s Ethernet support. The ALC897 audio codec is standard on budget units, which makes the Biostar model stand out as the highest quality option.
