I enjoyed playing on Xbox 360 and PS2 a lot when I was younger. The Ace Combat series really caught my attention—I fell in love with it from Ace Combat 4. When Ace Combat 6 launched for the Xbox 360, I became even more passionate. The new graphics made it impressive, though it didn’t quite capture the original feel of classic AC games. I also played Over G Fighters on the 360, which had a more simulation-like vibe. It’s hard to say how many hours I spent on that one. HAWX was another title; while not the best, its collection of Cold War-era aircraft was solid. This post is about what I think PC needs—more arcade-style flight games for modern planes. We have plenty of WWII and simulation titles, but there are few from the 1960s onward that are worth playing. The ones available are often disappointing. Recently, I heard Ace Combat 7 is in development but only slated for PS4. That was disappointing because I hoped it would be released on Xbox One or PC as well.

This statement means that Aerowings on Dreamcast completely eliminates them, leaving nothing behind.

Aerowings seems really forward-thinking at the time, which is impressive. I also checked out Airbrawl on Steam recently—it was cool, though I think it might become too common with fewer planes and maps available.

I LOVE Ace Combat 4 and 5, I still have the the discs but AC4's disc is looking rather rough from so much use. They weren't anywhere near sims but they didn't have bonkers aerial flips and tumbling like HAWKS and Ace Combat Assault Horizon, they were Hollywood arcade-y but not Micheal Bay arcade-y. The story in 5 was great. Overly dramatic enough to be fun but not so much that it became intolerable. Plus is has Eddie Frierson doing a spot on impersonation of Bill Paxton.
